Damn, glad someone designed these swingarms with replaceable derailleur hangers! Man-o-man, Farris Creek can be rough on derailleurs! Replacing frame components on the trail is still better then working though. @slow____down Chad for the moral support and picture. #reactiveadaptations #offroadhandcycle #offroadhandcycling ... I ordered some spare 2024's!
Okay, I think I'm done with Rosa's GG, urban-assault/townie/road/off-road handcycle! BUT, I thought I'd swap her hybrid tires for some bigga meats, 27.5x2.4" front and 27.5x2.2" rears. Almost 8" of ground clearance with mtn bike tires..... that should clear some obstacles?! #reactiveadaptations #offroadhandcycling #offroadhandcycle #handcycle #offroadrecumbent #urbanassualthandcycle ... That is gnarly! Love it
You sell the wheelchair rack separate??
Where do you place the manual wheelchair at? Also, any electric engine assist in the future? Solid design man.
Nice design bro keep up the good work. 👍
Another awesome creation!
Excited to ride on sunday
Rosa will love it!
Do you have any 650s? Im in need of a front tire.
With all that clearance I might be able to transfer out of it without the beached whale situation.
Getting closer to completing Rosa's GG. This is a "do it all" handcycle constructed specifically to be a work horse. It'll carry her chair, groceries, school bags, etc. it probably won't win any races but that's not the point. This is a handcycle that works for you. #reactiveadaptations ... See MoreSee Less
Good ground clearance!!👌🏻🙌🏻
Urban assault vehicle.
Would be great to see someone transfer and load chair. How much for a bike like this?
Bad ass. Would like to see the transfer too.
That is sweet. I'd love to see better how the wheelchair mounts to the bike
I'm seriously interested in one of these designs. Love how it carries her wheelchair! Would love to see a transfer though. Great work! Please be in touch with me.
I don't care about handcycling any more
Nice work, Jake!
Jake your work is always tits on!!!

Are you down in Arizona now?
Looks like a rad place to explore.

''Tis the time of the year when I finally get to starting riding my bike! Time for me to start crossing some of the Crested butte trails off the bucket list. The downhill on Farris is epic! And the trees are already turning ..... which isn't epic for me. Looks like a fun trail. Days are getting shorter and cooler, has a fall feel to it!
A view from the "cockpit" on the Nuke off-road handcycle. This one is setup for a quad with @quadgrips and quad brakes, shifter centered at the cranks and e-assist via a Bionx d500 watt system. Steering is controls via the cranks AND the handlebars. Fully adjustable leg holders, seat back and seat pan. Rear wheel drive for supreme traction and a tight turning radius for the switchbacks! Can you picture yourself rallying some single track!? ... See MoreSee Less

Had a fantastic weekend at the Wydaho Rendezvous. Tons of awesome participants and great riding to be had. In fact one of the participants had never ridden a cycle of any kind ever in their life. "Just so you know.....
My accident was happen so long ago. I never thought being that close to nature was even an option. As I was riding these adaptive bike and being on these trails for the first time in my life. I felt as if I was a little baby learning how to explore for the very first time. It was unbelievable feeling. I had tears in my eyes. Knowing that no one had to push me up in my chair. I was close enough to touch a leaf sticking out to the branch. To a normal person it's not big deal but loosing the ability to walk since I was 2 and never getting a chance to be this close to nature was surreal moment I had. OMG ok I'm getting emotional as I'm typing this to you. THANK YOU So much for giving me that chance!!!!!!"

Well, it's time. Upgraded the old #offroadhandcycle (Hammerhead) with a 500w electric assist kit from BionX. Time to practice what I preach. I constantly hear others claim they love their e-assist kits we install on their hand cycles so it's time to take the plunge. Time to step up my mtn bIking game and start tackling the 10 mile + trails around Crested Butte that I've never gotten to see but only hear about through epic stories from friends. See you out there. #reactiveadaptations #adaptive #offroadhandcycling ... See MoreSee Less
What did the kit add in weight?
Probably around 20

Hope you dont mind, I shared your image on the bionx FB group. Nice setup
Can't wait to get mine!
And your wife wants you to ride big loops with her!
Like you told me...."you can ride longer and keep up with friends"
I look forward to hearing your review. I have been in your camp where you peddle it if you can and the e assist is for those who are challenged in that area but it would be nice to do much longer rides.
I rode my typical nasty jeep road tonight. I think my record to the top a couple years ago was 57 minutes when I was in good shape. Tonight it took me 33 minutes. Keep in mind, have not ridden basically at all so far this summer, had a crash, a mechanical( need to adjust derailleur) and the motor shit off twice ( still figuring out. ). Pretty sure if I had that all dialed in I'd make it sub 25.
It's not the speed I'm interested in, it's the mileage. I want to ride the trails that I'd ordinarily be too scared to get stranded on.
The torque is nice too. What level of assist were you riding in?
I ride with all 2 wheelies so for me it's about being able to keep up on the climbs. I'll challenge anyone on the downhills already.
Awesome set up. Do you think you could drive one handed,
I told him, he seemed interested
A little wilderness camping break for a couple days. Sheeesh, this was the easiest obstacle during our epic hike around the lake. Kept looking for Ewokes or dwarves but found none, just beautiful scenery and nasty trail. #lookingforwardtoretirement #reactiveadaptations #offroadhandcycling ... See MoreSee Less
Hmmm. Must be nice to have suspension.
maybe it's time for a winch.
One thing smaller wheels do well
Yeah I know, it's not an off road hand cycle. It's the dirt jumper I made my bride to be about a year ago. Found this picture taken by Trent Bona and thought I should repost. Get back to work Jake!!!
Nice one Jake!
That's a killer photo. Jake - don't go quitting until you build my bike man!
Pretty awesome picture. The work you do is bigger than the bikes you build.
Where can I get one?
Keep going Jake; you got this.
Finding the balance between work and play is a challenge Jake. Success sometimes must be defined in terms of personal happiness instead of productivity and profits. Sometimes a guy just needs to take a break. What you do is meaningful, changes lives and inspires others to open their minds and hearts to fresh possibilities. That is the real profit you create from your life's journey and current career. Just be sure to feed your own soul too, while your at it. Find that balance. Delegate more, take on less and share the load! Share the meaningful harvest as well as the work itself.
